When I was making the final work, I began to design the image of the protagonist, whose appearance was the same as that of all ordinary boys, or even more emaciated. The big red coat seemed very empty on him, as weak and humble as his own character. As for the shooting, I chose to reverse the order of the technique, starting from the results of memories. So the first scene is that the protagonist is already standing on the roof looking into the distance, and the audience Shouting or accusing him looks like a monster in his eyes. He finally made up his mind and jumped. In the process of falling behind, he quickly recalled what he had experienced, the quarrels of his parents, the incomprehension of his friends, and the bullying he had experienced because of cowardice in school, which flashed through his mind. Just as life is a game, life is really short, maybe just a few seconds, just a few words of violence from others, is enough to end a person’s life.

I was under a lot of pressure when I create this animation. As a former victim of campus violence, I know very well that verbal violence can poison a person. Every link, every person around you and every word you say may become an accomplice to push people to despair. At that time, I wanted to give up my life like the protagonist in the cartoon, but in the end I didn’t because I wanted to be saved. So at the end of the story, I changed the ending, the protagonist was saved by his friend and got a warm smile.

In terms of animation creation software, I made a new attempt. Because I wanted to create pixel animation, I searched online specifically for pixel painting software and found many tutorials to learn this software. I tried Pixel Art at first, but I realized that not only did it not have the function of making frame animation, but the black edge of the canvas grid was too obvious, which would make the final picture not beautiful enough, so I did not choose it. Aseprite had significantly more features than Pixel Art and worked more like the flash I was familiar with, so I ended up choosing it The use of Aseprite was more complicated than I expected, and my tablet broke down during the learning process, so I had to use the cursor to continue drawing, which made the already tense plan more challenging, but I decided to continue. Luckily, I finally achieve it and the outcome is very satisfying to me.

In the first survey, I investigated the illustrations about science and technology and the Internet and made relevant sketches, but gradually I found that the topic of science and technology was selected by too many people and it was not the best form to express fast forward, so I had to change my mind.

The sudden change of what I wanted to do threw me into great confusion, because I did not find a good solution to replace the previous thought of fast forward technology. I have tried many ideas, but these methods are either not innovative or difficult to achieve in a short time, which makes me very difficult.

I started to observe things in daily life. For example, I drew a small cartoon about the weather in daily life, and did some sketches and related books. Gradually, I got some ideas

One day I played a game called life as play, only to find that life itself is a kind of fast forward. Moreover, his pixel style was very novel, so I finally decided on a theme related to life.

 

When I first heard about this project, the first thing that came to my mind was the fast forward of technology. With the development of society, human’s technology is growing ten times faster than before, which is the fastest advance I can think .

As for science and technology, the thing I can think of is AI technology. Hundreds of years ago, people almost could not imagine that there could be something that could speak and act like a person. AI technology is not only a rapid progress in human history, but also a progress in people’s exploration spirit.

When it comes to cross-cultural learning, what impresses me most is the difference between writing a paper and studying in China. Writing a paper here pays more attention to the logicality and the materials I refer to, and has very strict format rules for the annotation of the materials and documents I refer to. I didn’t know these things before I came to study in Britain from China.
The paper I wrote for the first time was about the theme of film. I didn’t know that I needed to refer to relevant books to write the paper, and I didn’t know to mark it in the back. So I just followed my own habit when I was writing a paper in China. I just wrote my own ideas in an unconstrained way. Although I quoted some passages from the library, I did not write down the source of the reference materials. Because I don’t think it’s useful just to quote a passage. However, to my surprise, the resubmission was sent to my mailbox. I was very confused and asked the teacher why I needed to resubmit. My supervisor tells me that university papers should not only have enough references to support your ideas, but also need Harvardstyle to indicate their origin. Finally she gave me the reference website and asked me to resubmit it as soon as possible.
I was still very upset about this completely new form of paper, so I had to ask my English roommate for help. Luckily, she was more than happy to help me. Then, she carefully looked at my paper submitted before and showed me how to find the correct release time and publisher on the website through her bibliography. I not only pointed out the mistakes in my paper, but also encouraged me to say that I can do better next time, which moved me deeply.
Thanks to the help of my roommates and teachers, my resubmitted paper is quite good. This is the first time for me to realize the characteristics of cross-cultural learning, and I hope I can do better in the future.

The theme of this project is fast forward. Speaking of fast forward, many things are accelerated in this fast-paced life. For example, interpersonal relationship is accelerated by the emergence of social software, shopping realizes fast shopping due to the emergence of shopping website, and travel is also accelerated by various travel websites or navigation software. This is the inevitable impact of the development of The Times, fast forward has become a major element of this era of fast food. So this project I want to start from this era.
The fast-paced environment can really affect one’s way of life and thinking. When the Internet is popularized, whatever news can be spread quickly, while the news that took a long time to be spread in the past can now be heard by people minute by minute. Perhaps it is because of the spread of information too fast, so that people can not have time to think about the event itself, it is natural that the common things. May be just a night or a few minutes, because things dynamic update, the opinion of people is upside down, will happen regardless of the information is true or not, people to care about the truth of the matter is more concerned about whether he had with the so-called wrong there, so will whenever events immediately marked point afraid of being mistaken for yourself is wrong. As the game “invisible guardian” said, there are as many positions in the world, there are as many kinds of truth. Many people think that all this is due to this era and the Internet, but in fact, no matter when, human nature does not change, the Internet is just the catalyst for all this, but also the initiator of all this fast forward.
This project I want to try something new, 3D animation and audio. I want to change every Internet user into a square with different colors, but it will change color even though it has no features. This feature comes from a game I played before called “crowded city”, in which the side with more characters will change into the same color as the side with less characters. And in my animation, the louder side of the color square will also rise to create the audio effect.
